Student Piano Lessons

Piano lessons for students are scheduled weekly throughout the school year with Summer lessons being optional.

Through Amy’s well-rounded musical approach, students learn quickly from the start. A variety of individual, buddy, and group instruction throughout the year means students are able to learn at their own pace, becoming independent learners and thinkers while also getting peer interaction.

Always utilizing up-to-date teaching practices and technology in the studio, assignments and practice tools such as audio and video recordings are provided to assist students in their practice at home throughout the week.

FAQ’s

How do lessons work? Students come once a week for a 40-minute solo lesson. Four to six weeks per year, students will have a 75-minute performance class in lieu of the weekly lesson. (Note: Offerings may vary slightly from year to year.)

Are there any performances? All students are expected to perform in the Spring recital in May. Several other opportunities are available throughout the school year but are optional.

What if we can’t make a lesson? By joining Studio 88, you are receiving a set time in the teacher’s schedule. Your tuition fee covers much more than your weekly in-lesson time. Due to limited availability, requests to reschedule lessons will be considered but are not guaranteed. Notifications of less than 24-hours will not be rescheduled.

Cost? Tuition is an annual rate for the school term. Summer (June, July) is optional. Payment options are available. Current rate information will be given when meeting with Amy to take the next step in your piano journey.

Adult Piano Lessons

Do you regret not learning the piano growing up or wish your parents wouldn’t have let you quit as a child?

Piano lessons are a wonderful blessing for many adults, whether you’re looking to simply play for fun, keep your mind active, or pull out the old piano tunes you love so well.

To allow flexibility in adult schedules, lessons are offered in an à la carte format. You will attend once a week for six weeks at a time. After that, you can choose to continue for another six or call it good!

FAQ’s

Do I have to perform? Nope! Adult students are not expected to perform in any recitals but certainly would be allowed if interested.

What if I can’t make a lesson? You have 8 weeks to complete the 6 lessons, giving you a couple of weeks of flexibility to miss if needed.

Ukulele Lessons

Studio 88 offers beginner Ukulele lessons only. Ukulele is an easy and “portable” way to have fun with music!

Lessons are set up in an à la carte format. Students attend once a week for 6 weeks at a time. Many students learn enough basics to enjoy playing tons of tunes they know in just 6-12 weeks!

Due to the nature of the fine motor skills required of the fingers to play Uke, students should be in at least 3rd grade.

FAQ’s

How do lessons work? Students come once a week for a 30-minute private lesson.

Do I provide my own Uke? Yes. There are several types of Ukulele’s but you will want a “concert” or “soprano”. I prefer the concert Uke because they’re a little larger and have a warmer sound than the soprano. Here’s my favorite Ukulele on Amazon*. It has a great sound, is a good price, and comes with a case.

Anything else? Two things. First, consider getting one with a case for safe transport to lessons and storage at home. Second, will need a tuner easily available. You can either get the kind that clips onto the Ukulele or, if your student has access to a device when playing, simply download the free Guitar Tuna app.

What if I can’t make a lesson? You have 8 weeks to complete the 6 lessons, giving you a couple of weeks of flexibility to miss if needed.
